Municipal District of Greenview Facts

The Municipal District of Greenview No. 16 is located 350 kms northwest of Emonton, Alberta, Canada.  The M.D. is located at the beginning of the Peace Country and the district covers 32,915.2 sq km from the British Columbia border in the west, to the Little Smoky and Smoky Rivers in the north, to the Woodland and Yellowhead Counties to the South, and the M.D. of Big Lakes to the east.  Within the M.D. the towns of Fox Creek, Grande Cache and Valleyview provide many of the essential services.   

• Population:  M.D. of Greenview is 5,464 as per the federal 2006 census
• Highways:  #43 from Edmonton, northwest to Grande Prairie. Highway #49 from Valleyview, north to Peace River.  Highway #40 from Hinton, north to Grande Prairie
• Police Service:  Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)
• Railway:  Candian National Railway (branch line) to north of Fox Creek
• Airports:  Valleyview airport  has 3,500' of paved runway;  Fox Creek airport has 2,500' of paved runway;  Grande Cache airport has 3,500' of runway
• Bus:  Greyhound (intercommunity)
• Economy:  Agriculture, Forestry, Oil and Gas and Mining
• Utilities:  Power - Atco Electric, Atco Electric Power Plant at Grande Cache and Trans Alta Utilities
• Water:  Hamlets of Ridgevalley and DeBolt.  Water Points at Crooked Creek, Goodwin, New Fish Creek, Puskwaskau, South Wapiti, Sunset House and Sweathouse
• Sewer:  Hamlets of DeBolt, Grovedale, Towns of Fox Creek, Grande Cache and Valleyview
